crazy thing is, there's college football players that have run faster times than that

As much as I want to believe even though you don't have any whatsoever evidence to support your claim, I highly doubt that there are many college football players that runs as fast as him. He is one of the top sprinters in the US, so no... you didn't measure his speed.then compare it to your college football player.

I completely believe that some college football players could run that fast. Granted, not many, and granted even if they can run that fast doesnt mean they do. The only ones who could run that fast would be wide receivers and cornerbacks, with your occasional free safety. (and you have to know that many division 1- d3 football players also ran track and field for the majority of their lives, but when you get to d1 schools they make you choose between football and track, i went to highchool with the number one ranked running back in state, and also the 2 time state champion of the 100 meter dash (since his sophomore year) and he was offered a full ride to the U of M but they wouldnt let him play football and run track so he went to a d2 school instead, as a senior he ran a 10.4 100 meter dash) But football isnt about long straight line speed the majority of the time. It's about quick bursts of acceleration and lateral speed to change direction to get away from defenders. That is why the measure the 40 yard dash not the 100, youre not going to run 100 yards in football unless youre a talented kick returner.

He did play football in high school (Massillon Jackson high school in Ohio) and college (Ashland College in Ashland, Ohio). I played against him in high school. He was fast but not an elite football player for some reason. My team held him to 15 yards on 11 carries I believe my junior year. He was a lot less muscular then though haha

The funny thing is, in everyone of those clips, they were still losing. So i guess this proves another point, it takes more than one player (fast or not) to win a game.

It showed in the video that he can catch just about anyone running away from him. He probably IS their defense.

Bear in mind guys that this is not rugby. This is 7's rugby - a totally different sport. In 15-a-side Rugby Union pure speed is less crucial, defences are much tighter and he would have a problem finding the space to outflank players using raw speed. Impressive 7's player though!

he needs to be in the NFL

    Incredibly fast for Rugby!

The key is indeed that this Rugby VII and not XVII. Speed counts for much less in the big game....which is what is played in Rugby World Cup etc....Olympic Rugby returns in 2016 and will be VII game.....And many college football players have similar speed over 40 yards(he clocked a 4.2,which is very good, any one under 4.3 is considered fast)He just isn't very big for a a defender or receiver, would only have potential as a KR/PR....Rugby players are very tough and very fast......although not the widespread speed and size seen in the NFL....but understandable considering the much smaller pool of players for Intl. Rugby compared to the US population and the tens of thousands of school boys playing HS football and 20,000 or so playing college, vying for a few hundred total NFL spots....Rugby is marked by very clean and effective tackling, something that becomes more and more rare in the headhunter world of American Football.....fun to watch and fun to play and quite possibly a source of change for the NFL as it tries to deal with the violent impact and head injuries driven by the armor worn, which is more of a weapon than it is protection.....

Have something to say?
